Goals

So, it occurs to me that as part of this journey to become fabulous before fifty, I need to define the goals I set a bit better and even add another one.  As I reach them, more goals can be set and reached for.  So, here goes the first set:

  1. Lose 50 pounds this year - that's a pound a week!  I can do that!  it means making good choices in what I eat most of the time.  It means ensuring I make the time for exercise.  It doesn't mean never having what I want to eat or never splurging.  It means eating veggies instead of fries most times but indulging in the fries occasionally!  I will take a book from my daughters blog and keep a running log of progress on this blog as far as my weight loss.
  2. Get rid of some of the clutter in the house.  I have a lot of stuff in my house.  Some of it is sentimental, some of it belongs to the kids, some of it I really don't know why it is still here.  It won't happen overnight but if I can work at getting rid of some of that during this year, it will help me feel better and more in control of my life.
  3. Become more involved in Family History Work - If you know me, you know I'm a Mormon!  We love family history, genealogy and making sure we know about our ancestors. I go through phases of doing a good job at working on genealogy but more often than not, I find other things to do with my time.
  4. Do a better job of not just reading but also studying the scriptures each day.  I know that reading and studying the scriptures will help me to grow spiritually and bring me closer to Christ.  I know that leads to greater joy in life and allows me to live closer to the Spirit.  All of those things help me to be more open to the Spirit and let it guide me in my life.
I won't be perfect, I know that, but I will strive to meet these goals and begin the journey in earnest to becoming fabulous! I am a big fan of the Biggest Loser because it is about so much more than weight loss. It is about figuring out what is holding you back, not just your weight, but what emotional things keep you from reaching your goals.  It is about becoming a better YOU!  That is my goal, to become a better me this year.

Pounds lost since last post: 1.6
Pounds left to lose:             48.4

And we're off!

Well, this is my first attempt at creating and maintaining a blog. As I approach 50 in a couple of years, I know there are changes to be made in my life that will make my fifties a truly wonderful decade.  Those things involve physical, spiritual and emotional changes.  And I hope that I can make an impact on others along the way.

The first goal to work on is the physical goal.  I want to be able to be active and healthy as I move into the second half of life.  In order to do that, some of the weight has to go.  I have to figure out how to eat in a healthier way, make better choices and find the time for exercise.  Luckily I have daughters who are also try to improve in health and physical fitness and they challenge me along the way.

The goals for 2014 are:

  1. Lose 50 pounds this year
  2. Become a more avid scripture reader
  3. Learn and become more involved in family history work
These 3 items are just the first of many small steps that I will take to become fabulous before fifty.

Enjoy life while you are living it!
